In December 2005 the Deep River players staged Romeo and Juliet, the most famous love story in history. Four performances were presented from December 7th to 10th in Childs Auditorium, Deep River. BackgroundRomeo and Juliet had a long history; it was retold many times in medieval Europe before being immortalised by William Shakespeare. There are lots of good links on the web about Shakespeare in general and Romeo and Juliet in particular. The full script is available on MIT's web site. Chris Coutts thought that rather than fight the degradation of the English language, he should try and bring culture to the newest generation in their own terms. That is why he made a flash animated movie of Romeo and Juliet entirely in text messaging. It is hysterical although should carry a PG-14 warning for strong language - that is if you can decipher the t3xt msgs. Cast
