The following obituary to Gil Phillips appeared in the North Renfrew Times:
Phillips, Gilbert (Gil)
Gil Phillips, on May 8th, 2010, age 81, in Deep River Hospital, after two weeks of being hospitalized. Survived by his friend & partner Anne Seck and her son Andrew, as well as daughter-in law Kathy and grandchildren Julia and Ryan. Gil came to Deep River in 1957 intending to stay for only a couple of years. Luckily for Anne he remained here for many years and they shared much of 34 years together with family, good friends, quiet times and exciting travel. He will be missed.
Cremation. No visitation. A memorial will be held at a later date when Andrew can return to Canada to share in a celebration of his life. In his memory, donations can be made to The Deep River Hospital, The Deep River Food Bank or the charity of your choice.
