The following obituary for Bill Beale appeared in the North Renfrew Times, December 2010:
BEALE, William Walter
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bill Beale, aged 83, son of the late Walter and Phyllis Beale and loving husband of Ettie Beale. He was the devoted father of Jane (deceased), Michael, and Kate Kartisch and the proud, caring grandfather of Meghan, Danny, and Jackie Beale and Ben, Robert, and Abby Kartisch. Bill was born in Birmingham, England and came to Deep River in 1951, shortly followed by his bride-to-be. He worked as a drafting supervisor in the Mechanical Design Branch at Chalk River until his retirement in 1985. Bill was a fine actor and joined the Deep River Players in 1954. He was involved in two or three productions a year, not only on stage, but also behind the scenes, on the executive, and on the Hill House Users' Committee until the demise of the first generation of the Players in the mid '80's. As well, he was an avid sailor, tennis player, and dancer. A bad leg never got in the way of a good time. Gardening, wood working, DJing, cycling, cross country skiing and stained glass were other passions. He delivered Meals on Wheels for many years and was always active in his church -St. Barnabas in earlier decades and more recently, the Community Church. As well, latterly, he became an enthusiastic bridge player. Bill will be greatly missed by his coffee club, bridge group, and the many, many friends whom he regularly visited to share a cup of tea or a glass of sherry and a chat.
A memorial service was held at the Community Church on Monday, November 8. In Memoriam donations may be made to the Deep River Hospital.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
