A note from the Producer

I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know one of the reasons I am so enthusiastic about being a part of Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii...

I have a brother named Dustin Houde who died in 1992 of massive head injuries. He was 19 years old. I was 15 when he died and the memories of those painful days will stay with me forever. He remains in my daily thoughts and prayers and is lovingly referred to as "Uncle Dustin" by my 5 year old daughter Mia, who knows he is in heaven watching over us.

Last year, my Mother and I decided we wanted to do something special to honour Dustin's memory. We decided to work towards building a school in a developing country through Free the Children. To find out more about Free the Children, visit the website www.freethechildren.com. It is very interesting how Free the Children came to be!

Anyway, we started ... bake sales ... yard sales ... fundraising parties. Only about one year later, we had raised $5500 toward our goal (to build a school costs an average of about $8500) As excited and proud as we were, we knew we still had a ways to go. So when The Deep River Players contacted me about Nurse Jane and how they wanted to support our very special project .. well ... you can imagine our excitement!!

So, I would like to thank everyone helping in this production, and everyone who attends this hilarious show. Not only will you have a blast, but you are helping to make a difference in the lives of children who otherwise would never have the opportunity to get an education. Free the Children has witnessed first hand that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and ending the exploitation of children. Together, we're changing the world!

With Gratitude,
Loralie Cochrane
