"A Midsummer Night's Dream":

Can there be love without lunacy? Four star-crossed lovers escape into the woods when mortal law thwarts their passions. There a hidden society of imps, elves and goblins, all ruled by the fairy queen and king, turns human longing on its ear!

An alchemy of text, movement and original music merge seamlessly in MOTUS O’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s well-loved family classic.

Article from North Renfrew Times, 2006 Feb. 22:

DANCE TROUPE TO PERFORM "MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM"

"Boundless energy and enthusiasm."

"Dynamic and innovative."

"Provocative."

Words barely suffice to describe the experience of seeing a "Motus O" performance.

The modern dance troupe captivated a THEOP audience of all ages last February with two shows ("Petrouchka" and "Variations in Love") filled with energy, humour, and human insight.

This April 1st, Motus O returns to Childs Auditorium with their unique take on Shakespeare's "Midsummer Night's Dream".

The show, hailed as "a thoroughly entertaining mini-extravaganza" by Paula Citron of the Globe and Mail, is presented by the Deep River Players and Dickens Insurance Agency Ltd.

Motus O was founded on the belief that dance should be inspiring, accessible, and reflective.

True to this essence, their rendition of "Midsummer Night's Dream" presents the complete story of the original, while incorporating dance as an integral part of the narrative.

For some scenes they chose to use the script, while others use dance and some involve both.

And of course they imbue this with all the wonder, surprise, laughter, and magic that attracts so many to Shakespeare's light-hearted tale.

Advance-seating tickets for Motus O's one-night performance are available at LoonsNest Books and Gifts for $25. Special $5 "rush seating" for students will be available at the door on the night of the show.
