Hey! Unto You a Child is Born! The Herdmans are absolutely the worst kids in the whole history of the world! They lie and steal and smoke cigars (even the girls). They talk dirty, hit little kids, sass their teachers, set fire to Fred Shoemaker's old, broken-down toolhouse, and take the name of the Lord in vain. Still, no one is prepared when the Herdman's invade the church one Sunday and decide to take over the annual Christmas pageant. None of them has even heard the Christmas story before! Their interpretation - the Wise Men are a bunch of dirty spies and Herod needs a good beating - has a lot of people up in arms. But the actual pageant (within the play) is full of surprises for everyone, including the Herdmans, themselves. The Deep River Players and Mackenzie Community School's Theatre Arts Company (TACo) are joining forces to put on the hilarious Christmas classic "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" by Barbara Robinson. With 26 kids, 11 adults and a dog on stage, and backed up with a 7 person choir and a live band or 5 musicians, this show is sure to appeal to all ages and be the feel-good Christmas show of the year. Performances are Saturday, Dec 13th at 2 pm and 7 pm AND Sunday, Dec 14th at 2pm in the Childs Auditorium of Mackenzie Community School. Tickets are just $25 for adults and $15 for kids under 12 and if you buy more than 5, you get a 10% discount! And that's not all... included in the admission price is a carol sing before the Saturday and Sunday 2pm matinée performances. Tickets are selling fast, so don't delay. Go to deepriverplayers.ca to reserve your seat. This is a great, fun way to kick off the holiday season. Come see how the story plays out!
